"True Story" - Maja Designs, Dusty Attic, October Moodboard

A huge welcome to you today. Thank you for popping by, I really do appreciate it. Today I am a tad excited, to say the least. I have for the past few weeks been sitting on a little secret.
Aha yes........... I am now a Maja Girl!!!!!!!!!
And this will be my first post today for Maja Designs with a layout incorporating one of my most favourite collections......Nyhavn.

I have titled this project......."True Story".

It is funny the things I remember and the things I forget about my children from when they were young, so it is a wonderful thing that I can reflect on photos which usually ignites those memories. This is of my youngest who will be turning 12 very soon! From this photo I remember the pure sassiness and I must admit stubborness she emitted. These are the things that I so love about her and I wouldn't want her to be any other way!

My background was created using Maja Designs Nyhavn collection. This would have to be one of my most favourite collections. I think because it has a lot of grey / black through them which I am extremely fond of at present. As I was using the Dusty Attic moodboard I have incoporated a sheet of A Dockside in Bloom from the same collection and the reverse of it also....it has the crowns on the reverse which I thought was only fitting for a project encapsulating this photo and all that it means.
The background page Kings Square was layered up with A Dockside in Bloom and primed with clear gesso. I added in a little texture using the Dusty Attic Distressed Diamonds stencil and crackle paste. While it was still wet I sprinkled over some silver prills and left to dry. I also painted in some extra colour using Twinkling H2O's buttercup.

I went totally bonkers with my Dusty Attic pieces on this project, pulling out a few boxes of my cut up bits and pieces and joining them all back together to create this. The first piece and a huge favourite is the Ornamental Trim #2. Love love love it! So this was cut into several pieces and laid to the left and extended to sit along the left of the photo. The centres pieces were added to the base of the photo. This chipboard was dressed in a mix of black gesso, crackle texture paste, and art stones along with a little iridescent medium to give my pieces a shimmery effect.

So the other pieces I found in my cut up box were the bird bath which was already dressed in Crackle Paste. I added a little Liquid Pearls in Bisque to highlight some areas of the bath. And also the title word disk chipboard. I have cut away the disk and covered it in liquid pearls so that it sat upon the 49andMarket flowers that I have coloured with Black Distress Spray.

For my remaining chipboards I have coloured them in a mix of Liquid Pearls Silver and Black Pearl and also some of the #5 Foliage was dressed in Dusty in Colour Cashmere acrylic paint. Such a gorgeous colour......will be using it again!
