Workshop Wonders Canvas

Hi and welcome back!
Over the weekend I participated in a teaching retreat called the Workshop Wonders, organised by the fabulous Alison Bevis. What an event!!! Soooooo much fun was had.
So today I am revealing the small canvas my classes created.

Each participant received a kit full of goodies sponsored by The Scrapbook Store, Memory Maze and
Arnold's Scrapbooking and Craft. Thank you to each of the sponsors. Your generosity was greatly appreciated.

My projects usually start with a photo, but for this one I used a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson which reads:

Every Artist
was first an amateur........

From this I built the base canvas by scraping modelling paste over a canvas and making textures with a large paddle pop stick. Really neat technique and it also gives a great variance of textures. I let this dry naturally and coated the remaining chipboard pieces with gesso and some with modelling paste using the same technique with the paddle pop stick.

Both of the Vintage Flourishes have been embossed with silver embossing powder and dry brushed with a little gesso. The cheesecloth was coloured using Distress Inks Dusty Concord and Peacock Feathers and water. You  can also see here on the base chipboard the texture created using a little Liquid Pearls to draw in the flourishes. Once the liquid pearls dried I gave it another coat of gesso and coloured it with the coordinating Distress Inks. Of course you can use any colours you like. Some of the ladies from class opted to use different colours and they turned out amazing!!!

The colouring of the flowers was also done using the same distress ink colours. The stamens coloured with gesso and then the whole flower was treated with a little of Ranger's Star Dust Stickles.

Well I hope that if you missed this class on Sunday that this may help you out to create one of your own. If you have any questions just leave a message below and I am only too happy to help you out.

If you keep scrolling below you will find a list of materials used.

Thanks for looking and until next time.

Tina xx
